(...for those of you who are new here, this is *not* to be confused with cognitive behavioural therapy). For most, the love of this practice comes down to the association of sexual pleasure with physical pain. This is of no surprise given how much BDSM involves elements of pain. But we also intertwine pleasure and pain across multiple domains outside of BDSM. Intensive exercise, eating spicy food, Wim Hof therapy, and deep tissue massages are a few examples that come to mind. But why do we associate sexual pleasure with physical pain to begin with? It all comes down to endorphins, the pain relieving hormone that naturally exists within us. As with all acute pain, getting kicked in the balls prompts a release of endorphins. Not only do endorphins minimize the subjective feeling of pain by blocking pain signals in the brain, but they also stimulate adrenaline and a euphoric high. The same way runners get a runner's high after a hard run, most subs also receive an intense dose of adrenaline and euphoria after receiving a hard kick to the nuts. And as with most feel-good chemicals that exist within our bodies, tolerance can be built. That is, the baseline amount of pain required to achieve the endorphin high increases with ongoing exposure to pain. Practically speaking, then, as a Domme it's necessary to keep increasing the intensity of the pain in C.B.T. to reach that threshold where adrenaline and pleasure kicks in - hence why I upgraded from bare feet to heavy ball-kicking boots with the helpless bitch in this clip. This is not to say, however, that Dommes are here to help subs reach euphoria. If my romantic partner was into the pleasure-pain connection then sure, my intentions would be to elevate the pleasure high. But the euphoria subs experience is simply a byproduct of our punishment, not our goal. Dommes typically get their own supply of pleasure from inflicting pain on subs, which has a separate set of neurobiological feedback loops that I'll detail another time. All to say, even as it appears as though C.B.T. and other BDSM practices represent one person gaining at the expense of the other, you can trust that these dynamics are implicitly symbiotic, right down to the biochemical level. That's enough science for today. I want to know about your own C.B.T. experiences. Tell me of the most extreme C.B.T. experience you've had or even fantasized about.
