At the moment we have a precious human body, which is the best vessel for crossing this perilous ocean of samsara. If we were to waste this precious life without taking full advantage of it, we would be extremely foolish. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso wish I could tell you fitness is easy. I wish I could tell you getting older and keeping motivated was easy. I wish I could tell you recovering from injury was linear. I wish I could tell you motivation never runs out, you can achieve your goals in 30 days and it’s always fun. I wish I could tell you people are always going to be there and not ignore you. The truth is I can’t. The truth will set you free though. Life is hard, keeping fit is a journey of a life time. People and friends will disappoint you and not be there for you. However for me it is harder being sick or unhealthy, not being there for myself and all of this I have some control over. So it’s all about the art of choosing a life of suffering well and choosing your hard. I choose the hard that makes me stronger and healthier, happier and me more there for me because it makes the best life for me. The art of happiness is also the art of suffering well. When we learn to acknowledge embrace and understand our suffering, we will suffer much less. Not only that, but we can also move beyond our suffering and transform into understanding, compassion, respect and joy for ourselves and others in this world. Many believe happiness and suffering are mutually exclusive and that one cannot experience happiness whilst going through difficult times. But that is not the true truth. It is not easy but through the difficult times we learn to adapt and grow. The art of suffering well involves accepting that suffering is part of life and learning to find meaning and purpose in the pain. What do you choose?
