Unedited photo of me just now. Finished my shoulder, chest and bicep workout and completed my yoga. Time to start the day. What are you working out today? I believe unfortunately there is so much emphasis on aesthetics and the current body shape rather than the powerful positive effect and benefits of exercise physically and mentally. Lifting weights and using bodyweight (full body and muscle group isolation exercises) as resistance all contribute to building strength and, when combined with a healthy nutritional intake and cardio, mobility, meditation and yoga with dedication, consistency, training with intensity and focus, and of course patience, changes occur. I am nearly 40 and I never thought I would feel fitter than in my 20s or be in this strong body. It takes time but …These changes include improvements in strength, posture, core strength, flexibility, endurance, body composition, and a more positive mental outlook. I know for me it is about focusing on my performance, improvements and progressions and how I feel – whether it is performing my first full push up or press after my neck injury this year or, straddle pose with glute activation to help my sciatica or even running that first 5km I haven’t run in forever – is a much more positive and productive way to gauge progress and encourage consistency, rather than scales.
