Now retired , he’s left that life behind him but finds that he can’t adjust to being a normal husband and father and friend and there is an anger burning inside him that can’t be satiated Facing financial hardship , He and his old partner agree to take on a new assignment that pays very well. And once the film gets to his ‘work’ we’re introduced to a world of violence and malevolence that hit extremely hard and definitely doesn’t shy away from the gore . The targets on his list aren’t the usual you see in these types of movies - a priest , a librarian , a politician but there is a purpose for each and as we barrel towards the ending the movie flips the switch a bit in one of the most frightening scenes of real world extremism that I couldn’t believe it . The tonal shifts throughout help establish the final gut punch moments where you look back and think how amazingly terrifying the movie is but one you want be rushing to ever rewatch .
