Lucky the frieghtliner here has one in stock, it's the smaller alt but it'll get me by till I can get home and order the correct one. Because I damn sure ain't paying 700 to the dealer for the bigger one when I can get it for 300 at O'Reilly's. Guy was like yeah best I can do is 250, for the alt and it'll be another three hundred for install. Ha bud all I need is the part there's a harbor freight in the next town over were I can literally buy all the tools I need, including the impact to get the pulley off the old alt. I'll spend less than 150 for the tools. Have a generator and a battery charger on the truck I'm charging the batteries now so I can make it to the next town to get what I need. There's always more then one way to skin a cat. I'm not gonna let anything stop me short of making my dreams a reality. Even if I have to bust my own knuckles on this truck I will. Screw counting on other shops that may or may not do the work right. There's only two shops I trust. One is in Texas the other is in Paducah KY if neither of those are near me then it's either Fix it myself or get towed. Sorry bit of a rant. I'm just mad because the guys at the t/a tried convincing me I didn't know what I was talking bout when I've done the alt swap on this truck before. The older guy was like man do you even know how to work on a truck. Tried telling me that it'd be harder than I think. Then I turned around told him where all the fuses where on the wiring harness including the one hidden behind the big bundle on the block, the two on the battery compartment and then explained what sockets and wrenches I would need to swap it out. He stood there like a fish outta water. It just irritates the out of me when people wanna try to scam me because I have an older truck and they think I know nothing about it.
