For those of you history buffs who are wondering about that red and white flag, that is NOT a Rising Sun flag! It is the Asahi Flag of Battleship Mikasa flag. The two look similar, but if you compare each side by side, you'll see that one flag is slightly off-center than the other. The coolest thing on the ship was they had a VR (virtual reality) headset that you could put on your head. When you walked all around, it looked just like you were on the original battleship surrounded by seamen, under attack by the Russian military. You could see the bombs exploding in the water nearby. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the MRE-style curry that they had in the souvenir gift shop. I bought a few of those for my friends and family, since Japanese MRE-style curry is actually pretty tasty. I also bought some of those decorative fans, which depict Admiral Togo's crew on board during a famous battle scene.
