In certain schools of tantra, it is thought to have healing properties. It is also said that a woman who squirts has a strong and active sacral chakra and her kundalini is active in her sacral region.
Modern science has studied women who experience kalas, and found that these women have skenes glands located around the urethra, which function similarly to the male prostate. Not all women have these glands, but those who experience kalas do.
Doctors do not fully understand what kalas are. They have found that although kalas seems to come out of the urethra, and does contain urine acid, it does not have the same taste, smell or color as urine, and contains PSA, a chemical released from prostate glands. Kalas is not urine.
