who doesn't love a black & white vibe??? if y'all don't know how I met @xlittlekitten, it's kind of a cute story! Spencer had found her instagram through a photographer he followed and got sucked into her instagram stories because they were fascinating and so aesthetic. he got me into following her too and soon a bunch of people in our friend group in LA were randomly following her because of us (she lived on the east coast at the time) although none of us had ever met her or interacted with her. my manager at the time ended up reaching out to her and telling her about us loving her content (which I thought was SO embarrassing that she knew a we were all watching her stories and obsessing over her from afar 😂). luckily, tess is one of the sweetest humans alive and thought it was cute so he ended up putting us on a text chat together. I remember feeling so awkward because she seemed so cool (she is) and I had no idea what she was like in real life so I was nervous talking to her haha. soon after that, she hit me up and told me she was going to be in LA for some shoots and asked if we would want to hang out - OBVIOUSLY we did. I remember she brought me some cute little crystals and some tea (which is the most tess thing ever) and we instantly hit it off. she's someone who is just easy to be around - we can talk for hours or just sit in silence doing our own thing while still enjoying each other's company. only about a month later, we had found a house we wanted to move into (the one we still live at!) but needed to find another roommate. tess ended up randomly hitting me up around that time saying she was thinking about moving to LA so of course I was like... wanna live with us? and the rest, as they say, is history! one one hand, moving in with someone we had maybe hung out with twice seems crazy, but I had done something similar when I moved in with Delaney (who I met on twitter) a few years earlier and it had worked out great. plus, it just felt so serendipitous that she had the urge to move right when we needed to find someone, like the universe was gently pushing us together. while I'm not a spiritual person and I don't really have any hardcore beliefs about fate or some kind of "life plan", I do believe in going with the flow and allowing things to play out. I don't usually try to force things and I'm willing to dive into situations I wasn't prepared for or didn't expect to happen when they pop up. that attitude has helped me avoid a lot of bad situations and led to me to many wonderful experiences and friendships. this was no exception! I feel so lucky to have this bb in my life. while in many ways we're very different (I'm loud, intense, and extroverted while she's much more quiet, chill, and introverted), we also have a lot in common (our love of cats, smoking blunts by the pool, aesthetic horror movies, overpriced green juices, vibey music, flowers, and obsessively cleaning to name a few) and there's really no one else in the world who makes me feel so relaxed and comfortable. before I lived with Tessa, my apartments had always been more of a place I stored my shit than a home. while I did (usually) keep things tidy and decorated some, my work and travel schedule had me feeling like spending too much time on my home was a waste. Tess always puts little vases of flowers around the house and just generally puts things together in such a beautiful way that made me realize the importance of having a home you really love being in. it's okay to be busy and work your ass off, but at the end of the day, it's so important to have a place to come back to where you feel safe, content, and actually at home. I don't exactly know where this post is going haha. I just thought I would share that story and got deep into it 😂 but I truly hope you all have a Tessa in your life who reminds you to slow down, smell the roses, drink some tea, etc :)
