This is about how far I got before they were gazing over the edge....
Uhhh, soorrry??? It just kinda fell off??
I think I was pretty much covered, but still.
Within a few minutes of our unexpected encounter with civilization, we were in the middle of a torrential downpour that showed no signs of slowing down. It was raining hard enough that the trees weren't providing much cover. We were trying to figure out how we were going to get back through the trail without being able to look at our phones for GPS when another group of people crossed our path who did not appear to have the capacity to traverse the route we had come. So we discreetly followed them. And discovered that around the bend just a couple hundred yards away was a country road where people just pulled their cars over to park on the side of the road so they could go see the waterfall. Which explained A LOT. And also cut about 3 1/2 hours off of our trek home. We buried our phones in our bag and only had to walk about a half hour in the downpour to get to our car.
It didn't turn out the way we planned, but it was still so much fun.
