Good morning loves! 💋💋 So when we were taking pics the other day, my cameraman stumbled upon this setting on the camera that we’d never noticed before. I still don’t completely understand how it works…the pics turn out completely differently depending upon incredibly slight camera angle changes. Sometimes they’re all white-washed looking and a lot of the background disappears (like this one), sometimes there are tons of dark shadows that don’t actually appear to exist in real life, and sometimes the pic just ends up being a regular old color pic. I clearly HAVE NO IDEA how the whole thing works!!
I wasn’t planning to post any of these pics, but last night I stumbled upon a black and white photo on the Instagram feed of an incredibly talented nature photographer I follow, and that pic along with his caption are still on my mind today. His caption read: ‘Black and white creates a strange dreamscape that colour never can.’ Which beautifully captured what the hubs and I were trying to describe as we evaluated our feelings about these pics. We both kept commenting that the pics seemed so dreamy and surprisingly emotional in a way that we couldn’t really describe. I had a similar reaction to that nature photographers’ black and white nature pic last night. Obviously a different type of content, but the parallel is in the degree of inherent and indescribable emotion that these photos seem to evoke.
Soooo, I’m curious now about what you guys think. I posted some color whipped cream pics earlier in the week…does this accidental pic FEEL different than the others? Or am I crazy?
