Late 5/2018 - At this point my bf and I had been dating for 2.5 years, and in the months following my break from cam, I began to realize that we had grown apart. This came into sharp focus when I visited my family for a week; instead of missing him, it was a relief to be alone. Although he was a wonderful boyfriend--and my best friend-- I was realizing I didn't share his vision of the future. I was 21 and didn't have enough life experience to settle down yet. If you've been in a long term relationship where it's almost right but not quite-- one where you're so comfortable together that it's like putting on your favorite pair of old jeans, you know how difficult it is to contemplate ending it. Additionally, our lives were so entangled it was hard to even imagine how we would separate. We shared finances, pets, housing, possessions, and we were on a shared lease until October. Lastly, I loved him and didn't want to hurt him. The next few months were very painful for us both.
