UFC 232
The night before weigh-ins against Megan Anderson
This fight got moved from Las Vegas to LA last minute, because Jon Jones tested positive for steroids. Las Vegas boxing commission wouldn’t allow it, but LA would!
Who remembers this New Years weekend?
It’s not the strength, it’s the leverage
It’s not the moves, it’s the speed
It’s not the height, it’s the dexterity
It’s not the size, it’s the will
You’ve never felt anyone like me 💪🏼😘
Hey Alligators 🐊
See you later??
Don’t forget tonight’s livestream at 6pm PST
😘
I’m someone that needs intensity and change in my life.
For college I went full scholarship to wrestle, and my original major was Sports psychology. I changed over to sports med after a while. My biggest problem was the homework. I was exhausted at the end of the day and I couldn’t retain anything I was reading and when I thought about the job these would eventually turn in to, I didn’t like the thought of sitting in the same place doing the same predictable thing every day. My body needs to move or I can get anxious.
Eventually I changed my major to sign language interpreting, since I had a lot of deaf people in my life, thinking that would have provided me with a good amount of variety in my day.
While I was in school I found BJJ and that changed everything.
Eventually jiu jitsu lead to Muay Thai and then MMA. I decided to put finishing school on hold to pursue this possible professional combat career. Now I can’t imagine what life would be like if I didn’t have to gear up for work every time. It’s very unpredictable, difficult, ever changing and has no real boss other than myself. No two days are alike.
Even when I’m physically exhausted or injured, I’m still really happy for this to be my path. I like goals with intensity and consequences, I wouldn’t be happy if I had to be doing anything else. So putting on layers of pads and braces and wraps truly is me living my purpose. And without it I’d never have met all you guys either :)
🙏🏼grateful

I don’t know what it is, but I know I should be in there more often. ☺️ 🌊🏝️
What do you do to relieve stress?
🚨 Make sure to join me for this upcoming week’s livestream on Wednesday 6:00pm PST🚨
Bed time soon 😴
Gotta be up early tomorrow for wrestling, only a couple tournaments left in the season. 🌅
What do you have planned for this weekend?
What’s my opinion on Kayla Harrison going to the UFC?
First is, I know she was struggling to make 155lbs (my coach and her were team mates in judo) so making 135 is going to be VERY challenging.
Second, I think they are using Holly a little bit as a gate keeper. Shes a big name, has a big following and been in the game a long time, so it’ll move Kayla up the rankings a lot and quickly if she does good against her.
The Bantam weight division is a little tough and low energy right now, so I think the UFC is doing what they can to spark some more interest. We shall see.
What are your thoughts?
First thing I’d do if we needed to fight.
I’d circle and make you step toward me.
I’d low single your lead leg.
I’d either lift and sweep out the sanding leg or I’d bulldoze through at the knee and hook with my back leg once I got your knees close together.
Once you hit your butt to the floor I’d climb pass to side control and collect both your arms and trap them under my arms or pin to your own chest.
I’d knee on belly, lift your head and snap sit you to take your back.
I’d lock in a doorman chokee and wait, depending on the purpose for the catch.
I had to do this once with a big drunkk wrestler at the Olympic training center. Had to hold them there for 2 hours until they stopped fighting and trying to break stuff. Finally they passed out to sleep.
All offense is the defense.
That’s always been the name of the game for me.
Have you ever had to restrain someone? Or been restrained?
It’s cold and rainy here in Southern California today!
I was planning to hike after my strength and conditioning this morning, but there is no way now haha ☔️
I’ll just go back home and be safe and cozy. 🧸
The cool part is that all the hikes with waterfalls will be beautiful this week.
Do you like to hike? Are you outdoorsy?
P.S. my manager asked me if I’d ever want to go back to the UFC… what do you think? 🤔
Who you got?
I’m betting on Strickland, Bueno Silva and Magny.
I pick Strickland because he’s crazy and has very strong mental and physical momentum right now,
Bueno Silva because Pennington crumbles in high pressure fights
and Magny because he’s my old team mate and a brother to me, so I WANT him to win and his reach is trouble for a lot of people.
Wanna bet?
Tip me with your choice of fighter and how much you want to bet on them.
If your fighter wins I’ll send you a picture worth double your tip.
If you lose I’ll send you a picture for the original value of your tip.

I’ll be right here. I will not be moving 😆😌
TV shows and feet up this Friday night.
What about you?
Wanted to break this fight down with you.
Originally I was supposed to fight Amanda Nunez in Strikeforce a week earlier, but UFC purchased and shut down the promotion.
I had been training in Thailand and was finally able to bring my Thai coach to the USA on an O class visa. I didn’t want to throw away all the hard work I had done and asked invicta if they could find me a fight on their next card, luckily Raquel’s opponent fell through as well.
My coach worked so hard with me on my stand up and I was trying to promote him as the new head Kickboxing trainer at the gym I owned. I was ordered to keep the fight standing and was told I could absolutely not use any wrestling or BJJ, only Muay Thai.
Every time I would make contact with Raquel she would put her back to the cage and just tie up my arms. She didn’t want to go to the ground, she didn’t want to trade strikes, she just hugged the whole fight and hung on. At one point she even put my glove between her legs and pinned it there by squeezing with her thighs. You can hear the commentator saying “wow cat much really want to keep that leg” but it was because I was stuck. It was very strange.
Going in to the 2nd round I realized that she must LOOK like she’s doing much better against me than she actually is, because traditionally I’m able to take everyone down and with her it seemed like I was “unable”.
There was a point where I decided to end it and just go with my strengths and instincts in what I knew would get the quick win.
I set up the lateral drop, got to mount and planned to work striking from top. As soon as I hit her with one elbow she gave her back and shot straight up to let me take her back. She fought the rear naked chokee but I heel kicked her in the stomach and eventually she opened up, but barely able to keep one arm.
I put the hand of the arm I had around her neck through to the back of my own neck and was able to finish her by arching with a one armed chokee .
The reason I am so upset when I get up after the win is because I knew I was in trouble with my coaches. When I finally saw them they shook their heads at me and wouldn’t even go to dinner with me after. They said my fight was “no good”. Lol
Fighting is nuts! What do you think of all that?
This is me at 145 lbs.
No clue what the body fat is but it’s pretty low and lean.
I remember in highschool lying about my weight because if a woman weighed over 140 lbs that meant she was “fat”, no matter what her height was.
That’s one of the things that makes me grateful about the sport I’m in, is there so much exposure to the different builds and levels to fitness. Even when I would get up to weighing 165 lbs I was still strong and could run as fast and as long as a decent track athlete, I just had a lot more curves going on 😉
Now I lie about my weight to sound bigger and scarier haha
Funny how things change over time! 😂
On the left is when I was on a 4 month break doing nothing physical, eating and drinking whatever I want.
On the right is when I’m doing cardio/strength training twice a week, going to jiu jitsu and hitting mits twice a week, making sure I’m drinking protein shakes immediately after practice and (try to) drink a gallon of water a day.
What I notice is I can be happy in both ways, but I physically and mentally feel better when I am being active and giving myself a routine with outlet.
When I work out, sprinkle in intermittent fasting and give myself cheat days, I also get to eat what I want and not feel bad about it.
Let me know if you have any nutrition or routine questions, I’d be happy to share what works for me and help you figure out what might work for you.
Got some calls this week… I need the outlet ☺️
