I really love the story of Hadrian and Antinous. If you don’t know the story here it is:
Hadrian was the emperor of Rome. He was known for his intellect and admiration for the Greeks. While he was married to a women, he fell madly in love with Antinous, a man. Hadrian took Antinous everywhere and was always by his side. He was not just a lover but a confidant and best friend to Hadrian. By some debated means, Antinous suffered a terrible death. This destroyed Hadrian, and he ordered thousands of statues and palaces to be made in honor of Antinous. And to this day Antinous is one of the most common archeological figures found in the Mediterranean from the Roman Empire.
I admire the loyalty the two shared. I think it’s very compelling :) just to make you think for a second.
