The island Langkawi was so strangely empty. Even the beaches were empty. It was July and Ramadan, perhaps not the most tourist season, but at times it seemed that we were completely alone on the island.

2024-03-21 05:00:11 +0000 UTC View PostWhen our free week ended we had to move to another hotel. It looked beautiful in the photos, plus it had breakfast included and we immediately paid for it for a week, even though it wasnβt the cheapest (about $13 per night). This turned out to be the worst hotel in all 6 years of our travels. Upon arrival, we were asked to pay an additional fee for some unknown reason, and then we were taken to a room that was literally in the center of this ship-hotel. And there was not a single window in the room. It was just terrible, musty air and itβs not clear whether itβs day or night with the fucking fake window-picture. We could not change the hotel, since we had paid in full in advance and now we have only 4$ per day for this week. Our salvation was an abandoned roof, where we sneaked in illegally and spent most of the time when we needed to work, fortunately there was barely a Wi-Fi signal there. But there was a wonderful view from there. Video of the room is attached hahaha.

So Miguel is engaged in singing, given our journey, this may be useful on trips to earn money on the street. P.S. Miguel was embarrassed to publish the video, so we hid it behind a photo
2024-03-19 06:15:02 +0000 UTC View PostThe entire island of Langkawi is covered in jungle with many waterfalls, thousands of monkeys along the way, and tons of beautiful beaches around. But sometimes monkeys can be quite aggressive, so while we went to admire the waterfalls, our bike was occupied by monkeys, they took our helmets and did not let us near the motorcycle, shouting and grinning at us, but then some girl in a car managed to chased them away by honking loudly and we were able return our bike.

2024-03-16 13:00:07 +0000 UTC View PostAs you remember, we arrived on the island of Langkawi with absolutely no money, so we found an inexpensive hotel, where Miguel told the hotel owner that Miguel is a professional photographer (which was not so true ahah) and that he can take good new photos for the hotel and it works. So in return we were given free accommodation for a week. And after we received our salary from Miguel freelance web development, we went to relax and try new food in Malaysia. For the first time we try crab and curry. Curry was told that it would be almost not spicy but as always in Asia it was so hot that it was impossible to finish it, but the crab was kind of good.

2024-03-15 15:00:03 +0000 UTC View PostThe island of Langkawi is located on the border of Thailand and Malaysia. Although it is only 70 km from the mainland, the nature here is already different. The entire island is one large resort with a constant temperature of 28 degrees, except for the two months of the rainy season in September and October. The island is so small that there are not even city buses, everyone drives their own bikes, cars and taxis. Locals here donβt seem to have heard of hitchhiking and itβs quite difficult for a traveler to get around, but for just 5$ you can rent motorbike for a whole day, which is quite enough to travel around the entire island, with its 3 amazing waterfalls, a crocodile farm and a wonderful sky bridge. Here as in travel programs, so many monkeys around the island which turned out to be not so cute, and the beaches here are even more gentle than in Thailand. Langkawi is also called the city of eagles, and itβs true that there are quite a lot of them, sometimes itβs even strange to watch a huge eagle land on a palm tree near the shore. Unfortunately, the water here is as muddy as everywhere else we were, so there is nothing for those who like to dive here, which is why we soon planned to find a place where we can do great snorkeling. But overall Langkawi is a wonderful island. Hostels here are cheaper than on the mainland and can be found for 7$ per night for two. You can eat in local cafes here for 2$ and it will be delicious. We think we could even stay and live here, but we are afraid Iβll get bored quickly.
