Drag 300, 400, 500lb sleds and a giant anchor 50 feet each
5. Carry Medley
Carry a 480lb yoke, farmers carry 200lb per hand, and carry a 100lb keg 50 feet each
6. Hercules Hold
Which event looks hardest to you?
May 14th I’m gonna try to win a strongman competition. This will be my first one so I very likely will not but I hope top 2 in my weight class (heavyweight).

On muscles like your lateral delts, getting the most direct time under tension is crucial. One approach is to beat your shoulders to death with set after set of regular rep after regular rep, put quite a bit of wear and tear on the quite delicate shoulders, and eventually develop an injury OR use isometric pauses (a pause of the peak of the muscle contraction) and slow eccentrics. Time under tension is CRITICAL for muscle growth.
Time under tension can be made up of only dozens and dozens of traditional reps or you can utilize these techniques to get more bang for your buck. If you already have high mileage or injuries on parts of your body, these techniques will allow you to continue training and improve your quality of life.
One of the worst thing you can do is to avoid training certain body parts because it hurts to do so the usual way you’ve been used to training them. This will only cause additional dysfunction, imbalances, and loses in strength or muscle size.
Want big pecs? Want to get better at staying tight on bench? Give these a try. Do 5 reps with a 5 sec eccentric on incline then immediately do 5 reps with the 5 sec eccentric on flat. Focus on squeezing the pecs at lockout, during the eccentric, and when pressing.
Control and actively squeezing your upper body during the entire exercises are key. Do not sacrifice these things to try to move heavier weight.

2022-03-30 23:48:52 +0000 UTC View PostThis weeks deadlifts. I was going to use straps so I still had hand skin after but they just throw me off. My deads have never moved so good. I’m really excited about the efficiency and hip strength. Box squats have really helped build my hips/glutes.
