One of my favorite adventures we completed while living abroad was the hike up this Volcano- Mount Vesuvius ⛰️🔥

Steep, dusty, and absolutely worth it. This legendary volcano, famous for burying Pompeii in 79 AD, is still active today. The climb is around 2.5 miles round trip but feels SO much longer & takes about an hour to get up the volcano!

It’s a hard hike with the loose volcanic gravel underfoot but it’s all worth it for the view of the Bay of Naples stretching out below & to see at the top of this- a massive steaming crater- witnessing her steam from the lava below, knowing she is still active, & I’m standing on it- mind blowing!

It’s one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, yet standing on its rim, overlooking ancient ruins, you can’t help but feel in awe of history and nature.

I am also making my mother in law my mother’s Swedish pancakes but first I made the batter & now I’m mashing my fruit for the filling.

I’m so grateful he is home to experience our first legit snowfall in Mississippi. If you didn’t know, my husband is from Denver, so Mississippi is way different than what he grew up with but it grew on him when we first came down in 2008. I’m so glad it did because I love it here too, & how great he finally got to experience snow here! It did a dusting back in 2018, but it melted as it fell. This has stuck you guys! It’s crazy!

This was at the Fiordo Di Furore on the Amalfi Coast. A truly breathtaking sight.

The Fiordo di Furore is a stunning and unique fjord located on the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy. Despite its name, it’s not a true fjord (which is typically carved by glaciers); instead, it’s a deep gorge created by the Schiato River, which carved its way through the cliffs before emptying into the sea.

What Makes It Special?

1. Dramatic Scenery – The fjord is flanked by steep limestone cliffs, creating a hidden cove with crystal-clear water.

2. Secluded Beach – At the bottom of the fjord lies a tiny, picturesque beach.

3. Historic Fishing Village – A few old fishermen’s houses, once home to local workers, still cling to the cliffs, giving it a fairy-tale feel.

4. Iconic Bridge – A 30-meter-high stone bridge (part of the Amalfi Drive) spans the fjord, offering breathtaking views.

5. Diving Spot – Every year, the bridge hosts a cliff diving competition, attracting elite divers from around the world.

How to Visit?

• You can reach the Fiordo di Furore by car via the SS163 Amalfitana road, with stairs leading down to the beach.

• It’s also accessible by boat or kayak, offering a unique view from the sea.

• The best time to visit is early morning or off-season, as it can get crowded during peak summer months.
