I spent this whole weekend coaching highschool wrestling in Salt Lake City.
It’s a lot of energy but I love it, whether they win or lose!
One thing about wrestling is that it’s all about moments. You can’t get ahead of yourself. If you win enough moments you win the match. Applies to so much in life!

Reverse Triangle Finishes
Even though the position didn’t present itself this last fight, this reverse triangle series was something I worked on and plan to have to execute in my fights.
First position is to secure the head by pinning the arm and stepping over to collect the head and neck between my thighs.
Second position is to rotate through to the opposite hip while keeping the head/arm trapped and the opposite arm linked at my elbow.
First finish I extend my upper body away while pulling the near linked arm while squeezing my thighs around the head/neck for the triangle.
Second finish I keep the near arm locked but push the far arm up my thigh, keeping contact, to get the Kimora.
Third finish I push their near elbow to the mat and cover their hand with my palm pressing the fingertips towards their inner forearm for the wrist lock.
Fourth finish is to key lock the wrists, roll to my opposite side using my forehead for balance and switch dominant legs on the reverse triangle while keeping the head/arm, push down and away at the elbow for the near arm Kimora.

Which is my best side? Left or right?
Because of my years and years of wrestling I’m right side dominant, which makes me a south paw in MMA, meanwhile I am not actually left handed. I’ve found it extremely useful in sports to make myself ambidextrous which is why you’ll see me switch a lot. Fun fun!

Walking in to Muay Thai… but my feet are cold!
I used to jump rope with a 3 lb rope for 45 minutes every day in Colorado during the winter and it could be hard on cold toes. San Diego is much nicer weather, but I still need socks on the mat until I’m extra warm!
All this hard work in each chapter of training has been worth it, my body is so strong and ready.
Excited for March 31st.

When I’m not working out, I’m usually running around in havaianas (sandals) but I sure do love putting on a good pair of heels. 👠
I routinely get a pedicure every two weeks because taking care of and keeping our feet nice as fighters is very very important.🦶🏼💆🏻♀️

This is a Muay Thai freestyle drill that really really helps me get ready for a fight. My coach has me take off my wrist wraps and only have the gloves on, he straps up his body guard then has me put on my shin pads. This is so I’ll pull my punches 😅 and have padded kicks, therefore, won’t injure him as I still need him healthy and able to train me for the next 5 weeks.🤣
The main objective is to freestyle target practice my kicks 🎯, keeping my eyes, mind and position ready for any opening while using my strikes to set up angles and figure out proper distance. It is a way for me to perfect my speed, accuracy and timing while finding placement for throwing kicks that will cause damage.
What’s the best combo you see here? Think you could wear these kicks at my 30% power?

I was going through an old phone and found lots of pictures and photoshoots that I totally forgot about from before I had my chi chi reduction surgery. It was the best decision for my health but when I see some of these photos, I have to say, I do miss the extra curvy curves.

I’m always listening to music when I’m getting ready. My taste is all over the place too! I mostly like 90’s grunge and hip hop when I train, but the rest of the time I like Motown, 50s, 60’s 70’s classics, sometimes I’m even in the mood for jazz, orchestra and opera. My 2022 wrapped was hilarious bouncing between Fugees, Billy Joel, Disturbed, the Cranberries, Nikki Manage, Josh Groban, Jonny Cash, Jodeci, Beatles, Tracy Chapman, Deftones, AC/DC etc etc etc. 🎶

The first couple weeks of pre camp is difficult because it’s getting on a routine and achieving base fitness. It can also be tiring as it’s usually coming from eating whatever I want, lack in proper sleep/routine and adding a ton of workouts until I’m in training camp shape.
The weekends are my happy place. When there is no training left to do and my main requirement is to do nothing, it feels great to be a lazy bones. I can always tell when I did a good job weekend recovering by how I feel at my first practice on Monday.

6 weeks out from my fight. I thought I’d show you a Friday sparring round against another pro fighter. For context, the voice is her coach coaching her against me. She forgot her mouth guard today, so I did my best to pull punches but sometimes it’s just instinct when I’m used to timing off her kicks or the adrenaline gets running high. I’m also working on a new combination that I learned at Muaythai this week, I don’t quite have the timing down which is why I got binked a few times 😅

I’m asked a lot, what am I thinking when I’m in the corner between rounds. The truth is I’m thinking nothing, I’m hearing nothing, I’m seeing nothing. It’s only rest.
I can’t make out a word my coaches say and I don’t mind, sometimes I’ll take some water from them and sometimes I won’t. I let them ice me if I need it but at that moment, I am only waiting.
When the referee says go, I can feel the rough yet bouncy mat on my feet, I can hear the slaps of my strikes, I can smell sweat from my match and the matches before mine. I can see my opponents game plan, their new movements planned and prepared especially for me. I feel mean, like a bully.

It’s been three weeks of eating clean, getting a heavy sweat in every day, lifting heavy and the proper amount of rest.
It’s a hard reset but I love what I see in the mirror after committing to the grind. Should be moving fast, slick and strong at my upcoming fight March 31st. Will you be watching?
