So many different ways to prepare herbs, decoctions, teas, granules, powders, topicals. When we think about herbs, commonly they are viewed as individual herbs but their magic lies in their properties of transformation ✨

Vrschikasana B, or the scorpion pose for short in western society, is an advanced pose that takes a ton of practice. Eventually, you’ll want to advance but that takes practice, flexibility and focus. Using a wall is an excellent way to prep for this advanced variation of vrkchikasana. To reach the full position, arch your head back and lightly reach your toes to the top of your head

Do you suffer from any of these?
- insomnia
- anxiety
- hot flashes
- body aches or pain?
If you answered yes to any of these I strongly recommend this delicious passionflower tea ♥️
Passionflower is a flowering type of vine. There are over 500 known species of the plant, and studies suggest that this flower works by increasing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain!

Here, I am creating openness through the neck, using traction at occiput and shoulder body to create space, stretching through the trapezius and SCM muscles of the neck as well as an occipital release.
Tension for most people is carried in the neck and shoulders so it’s an essential tool of bodywork for a practitioner. 🙆🏼♀️ To lessen this tension, try to make it a habit to stretch your traps and shoulders daily 😊

Don’t be alarmed, this is actually beneficial 😉
If you haven’t heard of this technique, let me introduce you! This is called cupping therapy. It’s a form of alternative medicine that increases bloodflow and circulation by basically pulling the plasma with the sucking motion of the cups. A lot of athletes use this technique to relieve muscle tension, break down fascia, and form new connective tissue ♥️

The Sarvangasana shoulder stand -
It helps build core strength, along with shoulder and neck flexibility. When you hold for a long time it relaxes your parasympathetic nervous system and the aspect of inversion reverses bloodflow. Additionally, it helps to clear blockages and rejuvenate joints in legs and lumbar spine ♥️

Flexibility is 🔑 to living well and staying mobile.
This is called: Natarajasana, or King Dancer pose. A beautiful trilogy of balance, stretch and strengthening. Finding the fulcrum point in your low back between the ease and pull of your hands to feet creates this beautiful tear drop pose. Your standing leg should be engaged while having a little softness in the standing knee to prevent injury 🙏🏼

Upavistha Konasana or wide legged forward bend, creates an in-depth stretch along the entire UB channel (Urinary Bladder). Creating slight rotation with the pelvis, this posture is best for stretching through the achilles ankle to the glutes, all the way through the low back and paraspinal muscles. Our pelvic cavity is also known to house traumatic memories and emotions, when held for long periods of time this posture can evoke an emotional response. One of favorites when I rest and reset.

Forest Bathing 🍃⛰
Forest Bathing or Shinrin-Yoku, is the act of immersing oneself in our natures atmosphere. Originated in Japanese culture, forest bathing is done by detaching from modern conveniences of society (phone and camera) and tuning one’s senses into the present surrounding; the light of the sun coming through the leaves, the sound of the the wind rusting the branches, the smell of the fresh foliage, array of contrast and colors in flowers. This savoring of the forest is recommenced to be done for 2 hrs. Think about this on your next hike, setting your intention and grounding yourself into the ubiquitous connection of ourselves and Mother Earth.
Benefits include reducing stress and anxiety, boosting immunity, improving quality of sleep, increasing attention and nurturing creativity.

Urdvha Dhaurasana
I always say a backbend is better than a cup of coffee! Inverting your spine sends adrenaline through your body, opening the front line and chest cavity as well as igniting the focused mind. Start where you are and utilizing your breath, move deeper through the posture. It took me a while to get deep into my own backbend, but I enjoyed every step of the journey.
Stay tuned for my OFTV talking you through a proper backbend!

Happy Sunday 💞 here’s s lil posture strengthening yoga pose!
Vasisthasana
Where strength leads to balance, Vasisthasana Side Plank Pose. It is no easy feat to balance on the edge of one foot but when you find that place of stillness, it is rewarding. This posture, beyond the benefits for the body, strengthens the mind in refining determination. If you can find balance in Vasisthasana, think about translating the experience to find balance in your daily life.

It takes time to achieve the full expression so always practice within your limits. Listen to your body, and when it is ready, your breath is your tool that will slowly move you deeper and deeper in the posture.
