for me, and for many chronically ill people, pain is a very familiar thing. something that tends to make us feel out of control, trapped in bodies that refuse to work as they “should”. pain, however, can be harnessed and be *quite* empowering when in controlled circumstances. pain from a set of pretty nails digging into my flesh is something controlled, that gives pleasure to myself and another. by reinventing my relationship with pain, i’ve achieved a much healthier agreement with my mortal vessel. huge fucking thank you to all the Dommes (and subs) whose words inspired me to take a look at my relationship with pain, who causes it, and who deserves a little ... extra.

everyone’s recovery is different bc everyone's trauma is different. mine isn’t healed or over with because i finally got over one small facet of a weird social thing i was left with. i still deal with a lot of really not fun or cool things, but i am so much older and wiser now, better equipped to handle my shit. taking control of who sees me, who can communicate me on what level, paywalling myself, are all little steps on my journey of recovery. if y’all need support on this topic, you are welcome to send me a message. im not a shrink but im good for a conversation.

hugs aren’t something a lot of people think of as particularly intimate, but for me they’ve long been a source of anxiety that stems from feeling physically trapped by someone stronger than myself. in a lot of ways, i have managed to get more comfortable with hugs. it’s always been easier to hug smaller people, femmes, and generally not fit people. the last hurdle seemed to be my ability to give a hug to my muscular cis male friends and not have That Feeling. it’s with happiness in my heart that i day tonight i gave a very tight hug to a fit cis dude who’s an absolute sweetie & good friend of mine from the fighting game community and it just felt like a good ass hug from a friend. it was real nice.
